IT Firms Confirm To Conduct Campuses

Hi friends,

As the global economy limps back to normality, Indian information technology (IT) companies are ready to recruit from campuses.Last year, placements at the engineering institutes were relatively subdued due to the slowdown in the economy.

This year, however, both the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and IITs confirmed that IT companies have approached them for placements. On an average, IT companies recruit around 50 students each from engineering campuses and 20 students from management institutes.

The IITs say IT majors like IBM, Microsoft, Yahoo, Adobe, Amazon, Intel, Cognizant and Oracle have assured them of participation. Moreover, Tier-I IT firms like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys Technologies and Wipro have said they would firm up the number for campus hiring only after their third quarter results (October-December 2009).

The job scenario in Indian technology is reasonably better than last year.” The company has increased its employing target for financial year 2009-10 from 16,000 to 20,000. Of this, close to 2,000 would be lateral (experienced people) requiring the remaining would be freshers.

Cooker- Useful Info to be Known:))

Hi friends,

Have u ever thought why some of the water is not evaporated in cooker?

At the starting temperature reaches 100 and starts to evaporate. After this,as we arrest the steam by using Weight, the pressure starts to build up. And the boiling point of water raises due to this. In our cooker the pressure increase 10 times and so the boiling point of water after this becomes 1000 degree.. And this is the reason for left out water!

Have an informative day!

How to Set Permissions for Shared Files and Folders?

Hi,

Sharing of files and folders can be managed in two ways. If you chose simplified file sharing, your folders can be shared with everyone on your network or work group, or you can make your folders private. (This is how folders are shared in Windows 2000.) However, in Windows XP Professional, you can also set folder permissions for specific users or groups. To do this, you must first change the default setting, which is simple file sharing. To change this setting, follow these steps:

•Open Control Panel, click Tools, and then click Folder Options.

•Click the View tab, and scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings list.

•Clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box.

•To manage folder permissions, browse to the folder in Windows Explorer, right–click the folder, and then click Properties. Click the Security tab, and assign permissions, such as Full Control, Modify, Read, and/or Write, to specific users.

You can set file and folder permissions only on drives formatted to use NTFS, and you must be the owner or have been granted permission to do so by the owner.

To an Older Coworker, please dnt ask these 6 Questions??

Hi friends,

With the downturn in the US economy, workplaces are becoming more and more diverse age-wise. Older workers are working alongside younger workers as people at every stage in their career are getting laid off. With this generational gap among workers widening, there’s a lot of potential for miscommunication or differing perspectives.

To ease relations between older and younger workers, I had come up with six things never to say to an older coworker. Some of these may seem obvious, but you’ll be surprised to hear how many people have actually been asked these types of questions. So whatever you do, don’t say these 6 things!

  • To an Older Coworker, please dnt ask these 6 things:

  • “Do you know how to use email?”

  • “I didn’t know you were so old!”

  • “So are you planning to retire soon?”

  • “My grandpa gave me that same advice.”

  • You’re going back to school?”

  • “There were some last-minute changes. Will that be too much to handle?”

Success Quotes!

Hi,

What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; k
nowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose.

Lets see some Success quotes !
  • No man succeeds without a good woman behind him. Wife or mother, if it is both, he is twice blessed indeed. Harold MacMillan

  • I honestly think it is better to be a failure at something you love than to be a success at something you hate.George Burns
  • Most people give up just when they're about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game one foot from a winning touchdown.Ross Perot
  • Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't lose.Bill Gates
  • Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.Dale Carnegie

Afridi-Says No to Test cricket till 2011 WC!

Hi friends,

Gud evening.. I have a Hot news in Cricket for you! Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi today said he would want to prepare himself for the 2011 World Cup by skipping Test cricket.

"There was a time when I was very keen to play Test matches but unfortunately I didn`t get enough opportunities then. But now there is so much international cricket being played that I want to focus on T20 and ODIs until the World Cup is over," Afridi said.

"The heavy international schedule also means it is better if I take a break now so that I am focused and prepared for the World Cup. I want to also see the team doing well in T20 and ODI matches," he added. Test cricket is played at a fast pace and we are getting more results which is good for the sport and brings in more crowds," he said.

"I believe all three forms of the sport can co-exist without threatening each other but the only thing is that a proper balance must be struck between the three in the international calendar," he added.

Cellphones and Cancer ???

Hi friends,

Do cellphones cause cancer? That question is about to be revived with the publication of a long-awaited study called Interphone. Given the public health implications, we can expect it to get a lot
of media attention. But you should treat what you read and hear with caution.

Interphone was coordinated by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and established on the recommendation of the IARC's parent body, the World Health Organization. It comprises 16 studies in 13 countries that sought to determine whether cellphone use is associated with tumours of the brain (glioma), meninges (meningioma), acoustic nerve (acoustic neuroma) or salivary glands.

Interphone compared cellphone use in 6420 people who had these cancers (2765 with glioma, 2425 with meningioma, 1121 with acoustic neuroma and 109 with salivary gland tumours) with that of 7658 people without cancer. The studies were designed to work out whether those with cancer had used their mobiles for longer or more intensively than the others.

Be Aware!
